Students who will earn a degree during the 2019-20 academic year – Summer ’19, Fall ’19, Winter ’20, Spring ’20 (or who expect to complete their degree requirements during Summer ’20) – are eligible and welcome to participate in Commencement ceremonies.

All Master’s candidates (except for MFA candidates from Claire Trevor School of the Arts and the School of Humanities) participate in joint school ceremonies with baccalaureate candidates.
Ph.D. and MFA candidates participate in the Graduate Hooding Ceremony.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to participate in the University-wide virtual ceremony and virtual school receptions. Registration is required so that graduates can provide updated information that is necessary for planning purposes. It is very important that graduates register before registration closes. Late registrations will not be accepted.
Each school has a specific date and time assigned for them to BEGIN registration. Graduates can register any time between registration opening and the closing deadline.
A cap and tassel will be mailed to all graduates who register on time to participate in the virtual ceremony. Gowns can be purchased for photo opportunities, as a keepsake, or to have ahead of time for the in-person ceremony in December or June 2021.

Sashes and stoles: UCI graduation sashes and stoles representing UCI organizations or proclaiming a vocational aspiration may be worn with cap and gown. Wearing multiple stoles is permitted. These items can be purchased through the Hill. https://uci.bncollege.com/shop/uci/home

Diplomas will be available 3 to 4 months after degree requirements are completed.
Make sure your permanent address remains up to date after you graduate. Log in to StudentAccess to update.
Grads will be notified via email when diplomas can be picked up at the University Registrar’s office. Arrangements may also be made with the Registrar for diplomas to be received by mail.

UCI Office of Information Technology (OIT) terminates access to student email accounts within three months following Commencement ceremonies. All files, email and address books left on the server will be deleted. Incoming email will not be forwarded.
